So this week was okay.  This past Saturday my friend Elisabeth, and I went to the movies to see Logan.  It turned out to be really good!   I was really impressed with the plot, and the acting of the girl who played is daughter.  Word of warning if you're going to see this movie it gets very emotional towards the end.  In marvel fashion people stayed after the credits only to realize that there was no extra footage after the movie ended lol.  During the previews they showed a preview for a movie called "The Circle."  The plot seems super interesting, and totally up my ally since I tend to like dystopian type plots.  After that we grabbed a bite to eat, and we decided to call it a night.

As for music I've been listening to the "Self Titled" Deftones album a lot lately.  I really dig the first track off that album a lot.  Their music always makes me wish I had a 7 string guitar.  I love their overall sound a lot.  I've also been listening to My Dying Bride, and a little bit of K-pop here and there because it keeps me awake at work.

As for gaming I just recently purchased the HD Remaster of the first Resident Evil game, Mortal Kombat XL, and Battlefield 4.  I've been enjoying all of them so far.  Resident Evil looks really good remastered, and I've been working my way through the mansion pretty easily as Jill.  The first time I played it I played it as Chris, and failed miserably because he doesn't get nearly advantages as Jill does initially at the start of the game.  As for Mortal Kombat XL I was pleased that I still remembered a lot of the characters combos from the older games.  The fatalities are a lot easier on the newer game which sort of makes me sad, but it's not a huge issue.  The game is really gorey, but of course that doesn't bother me in the slightest.  I like the single player content for this game a lot more than Street Fighter V.  Capcom could take a lesson from this game on how to make decent single player content for Street Fighter in the future.

Also I finally managed to get a copy of Xenoblade Chronicles for the Wii!  It's arriving today in the mail so I'm looking forward to it. :D

As for books I have kindle unlimited for 60 days so I've been taking advantage of that.  Right now I'm still reading "Ash" by Malinda Lo, Valis by Philip Dick, "Between Heaven and Hell" by David Burnett, and Lord of the Flies by William Golding.

Today I got my car serviced, and afterwards I decided to take a trip to the used book store.  I love going to the book store to see what type of gems I might luck upon.  I actually saw a few really cool video games, but they apparently knew how much they were worth so I steered clear of buying any games.  I looked around for a bit until I picked up a few things.

The guy behind the counter told me he liked my shirt.  I had on my Resident Evil "Umbrella Corporation" shirt.  He also remarked that I had great taste in games, and he joked that the store would be in trouble if I kept buying stuff xD!  Needless to say I had a good day out at the book store by myself.

I found a cool double disc compilation of Loudness's music.  Loudness is a Japanese 80's heavy metal band that I enjoy.  Their album "Thunder in the East" is a huge favorite of mine in terms of 80's heavy metal.  I bought "Something Wicked This Way Comes" by Ray Bradbury because I've always wanted to read it.  I also got "Mythmaker" by Skinny Puppy, Self Titled by Deftones, and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess official strategy guide.  I've been playing that game a lot lately, and I really felt like I needed the strategy guide.  Plus it has awesome color pictures, and official artwork.

I also bought myself, and my parents some food from Chipotle so my mom wouldn't have to cook.  She cooks everyday for us so I figured I would give her a break.  :)

My friend and I are supposed to go see "Logan" this Saturday after work.  I'm really looking forward to it.  Truth be told Wolverine has always been one of my favorite X-Men characters.  So I'm really looking forward to seeing the movie.  Here's the trailer on youtube for anyone who hasn't seen it.  I hope you all are enjoying your week so far.

This week has been okay for the most part with only 1 exception.  I ended up (sort of) getting scammed on ebay after seeing a refurbished PS4 for about $20.  Now you would think my common sense would kick in and tell me "If it's too good to be true it probably is", but nope.  Somehow I wasn't thinking clearly and I hit the buy button.  Now the good news is paypal is refunding me my money for this transaction, and ebay happened to have caught it was a scam rather quickly.  They emailed me and notified me that they felt like that account had been run by a third party account, and they took the item off their site.  I'm not sure why I did it in the first place, but you live and you learn.

I decided to go with a newer bundle on amazon and used a $100 gift card to get a bit of a discount from them.  So I guess the problem was solved, and I ended up ordering a brand new bundle for about $269 minus the gift card which ended up being a decent price.  It's the bundle with Uncharted 4 on it.  I watched a youtube gamer do a play-through of that game and the graphics are really beautiful.

That debacle aside, I'm on vacation from work this week, and I plan on doing as little as possible xD!  I found a decent copy of FFVII, and that came in the mail today so I plan on playing lots of video games.

Aside from usual gaming stuff I've been doing a lot of sleeping lately.  My allergies have been bothering me so I ended up taking meds for that today.  My dad ended up getting stung by a bee this morning, but he didn't tell me or my mom until my mom came back home from taking my grandma to the doctor.  He doesn't tell us anything, which can be annoying.  Something like that could have been more serious, and I wish he would have told me instead of not saying anything.  He's always been that way though.

As for me I've been doing well mentally.  I've been reading a book called "The Huntress" by Malinda Lo, and it's rather interesting.  I've had it on my kindle for a while now, but I just got around to actually reading it.  It's really good, and I really like most of the characters so far.  Anyway that's all for me.

This week has been somewhat stressful. I got a flat tire yesterday morning, and now I have to go buy a new tire cause it's pretty much ruined. It was early in the morning, and I was driving to work but I guess I wasn't really paying attention and I hit a curve. I damaged one of the rims on my car a little, but I'm going tomorrow to the tire place to price a new tire, and see if they can fix the rim. Either way I'm more frustrated with myself than anything cause my car is new, and why the hell was I not paying attention?!? Anyway when you're an adult fuckups cost money so yeah. I'm willing to pay the price for this situation.

As for other things I bought 2 things from the sale Killstar is having for Halloween. I ordered this necklace, and these fingerless gloves. I also got my order that I ordered the other day of a Siouxsie and the Banshees backpatch I ordered for my denim vest. I still need to sew it on along with a Birthday Massacre patch I ordered a while back. I'll be sure to post pictures whenever I finish the vest. I still have a few things I need to add to it.

That aside everything's been okay. Halloween is tomorrow, and I don't really have any plans besides getting cozy in my room and watching a few horror movies. I ordered a Five Nights at Freddy's figurine set for my friend for her Christmas gift. She's a huge fan of the series so I figured it would be a perfect gift. Speaking of early Christmas gifts my friend bought me this book on hardback, and it looks super cool. It's "American Gods", and "Anasi Boys" by Neil Gaimen. My friend is an avid reader like myself so this was an awesome early Xmas present from her. :D

First of all I'd like to welcome the people I added from LJ.  :)

So today was good. My mom and I met up with my sister at a local seafood restaurant, and ate lunch. I joked with my sister that she sure does come to this particular restaurant a lot, and she mentioned that they were having a special on one of the dishes on the menu. We had a nice chat about people, and how to deal with other people judging you. She told me to just be myself, and not to "give a fuck" about what other people think about me. My sister swears a lot btw lol, it's just one of her quirks. I ended up getting chick strips, and fries because I'm not really that crazy about seafood. They were actually really good. I was surprised because we were at a seafood restaurant, but they had some really good chicken strips.

After that we went to Target so I could pick up a few things, and I realized that the seemingly healthy food in the deli isn't always that healthy after looking at the nutrition facts. So I got some Halloween cookies because why not, a shirt, and a denim vest that was on sale. They also had some cookies and cream pocky that seemed like it might be tasty so I bought some.

I've started reading a book I've had for a while, but just now decided to read call "The Forever War" by Joe Haldema, and it's really interesting. My friend bought it for me a few years ago, but I've just now started reading it.  It's really good so far.  It's pretty dark since it's about war.  I have a few books on my reading list that I need to catch up on.  I just bought Red Rising for my kindle because the plot seemed like something I would enjoy.  I'm a sucker for dark, dystopian, post-apocalyptic type novels actually.  I did actually read The Hunger Games series when it came out, and I enjoyed it mostly except for the last book Mockingjay.  My mom always says I need to read happier stories, but then again she reads dark paranormal romance so she's one to talk.

This past week was good.  The weekend seemed a bit exhausting, and long, but I got through it.  I was having issues with my blood pressure over the weekend, but I realized it was because I slipped up and ate pizza.  Pizza is really my weakness when it comes to unhealthy food.  Needless to say after I did my blood pressure was up pretty high.  After that initial scare I ate very light the next day, and I managed to get it down significantly.

As for other things I've been reading a lot lately.  I've been reading manga, and regular books.  I finished Parasyte vol 1, Haikyuu vol 1, and I've started Black Cat vol 1 as I've heard it was pretty good.  I have few more manga I need to finish, but I've been reading a lot in general lately.  I've been reading some philosophy books mainly HegelPlato, Nietzsche, and just books on metaphysics.  Despite me not being very religious I am interested in many different types of philosophy weather they be religious based or not.  I think many of them are different interpretations on how to live one's life.  I don't agree with all of them, but I think you can gain a lot by taking different ideas from each, and form your own opinions on which ones apply to your life.  It helps make me remain open-minded when talking to people about their own beliefs as well.  On a side note I think reading Hegel is essential if you want to understand the plot of Neon Genesis Evangelion.  The creator of that series said that the philosophy of the series is based off of this book.

For anime I've been currently finishing up Dragonball.  I'm obsessed with Dragonball apparently, and I can't get enough of the show.  I just really enjoy all the characters, and the story I guess.  Either way I bought this really cool DBZ jersey from amazon.  Since I'm not a sports fan, but can appreciate the appeal of jerseys I figured a DBZ jersey would be awesome to have.  And despite it being bright orange I really like it.  I don't usually do bright colors, but I can make an exception for Dragonball I suppose. :)

I also ordered a remastered copy of Prince's "1999" album.  It has some of my favorite songs from him, and it's a gatefold LP so that should be awesome.  I grew up listening to Prince because of my dad.  He had some of his records, but gave them away to people.  He feels sort of bad about that now that I have a record player.

Some good news, I'm finally getting paid for my injuries, and loss wages for that accident by my insurance company.  The other lady's insurance company however is being annoying, and they keep trying to avoid paying out.  I'm getting tired of dealing with her insurance company.  I'm getting tired of dealing with any of them tbh.

As for music here are few songs I've been digging lately.  The one's without links I couldn't find on youtube, but by all means check them out if you're interested.  I should just make spotify playlists tbh.  Maybe I will one day.
Song links inside... )

I have some good news.  My grandfather is doing better, and he's currently in rehabilitation recovering.  I found out yesterday when my aunt came over.  That's one less thing that I have to worry about.  I had so many family members  pass away last year that I just think I could deal with that again.  Therapy sort of helped, but in reality dealing with the loss of a loved one takes time.  I honestly don't think I've fully dealt with it.  I  really haven't dealt with my grandmother's passing last year.  But I don't want to dwell on that because it makes me feel miserable, and depressed so changing the subject.

As for the stuff I bought at the bookstore that I mentioned in the previous post my friend recommended a book called "Tuesday with Morrie", and I have to say it's a really touching, and beautiful story.  It's sort of sad though because the main character Morrie has ALS, and he really goes downhill as the story progresses.  I also bought a few CD's.  Linkin Park's "Living Things", The Velvet Underground's "White Light White Heat", and The Smiths "Best I."  I bought 1 vinyl David Bowie's "Let's Dance", but the record ended up being in bad shape so I have to return it.  I bought another copy of that album on ebay that is in better condition last night, and the seller is from Dallas.  He said he'll ship it tomorrow morning so I'll be looking forward to receiving that album.  I also bought a vinyl copy of "Tragic Kingdom" by No Doubt.  That album holds a special place in my heart because it was my first rock/alternative album.  The vinyl is transparent yellow, and  in perfect condition so it was a nice find.

I've been watching old seasons of the X-Files just to refresh my memory about everything.  It's really enjoyable.  I forgot how great the chemistry was between Mulder and Scully on the older seasons.  I also have to catch up on the current episodes of Sleepy Hollow since I'm behind.  I decided to renew my Netflix account again.  They had a lot of documentaries that I enjoyed, and Hulu doesn't really have a large movie selection like Netflix does.

Anyway I hope everyone is having a good week.  :)

Happy belated Valentines day to you all.  Last week was good.  Last Wednesday my family took my grandmother out to eat for her birthday.  We had a great time, and it felt wonderful spending time with my family again.  It was just a few of us, but my grandmother felt loved on her birthday. :)

I got a few things I ordered last week, and I'll post pics of everything once it all comes.  It's mostly music, a dvd, and some clothes.  I got pretty good deals on everything so I was happy about that.

My mom really wants to see "50 Shades of Gray" at the movies, Read more... )

Well let's see what's been going on with me.  I got sick Monday while I was trying to watch a new episode of Sleepy Hollow. :(  For that reason I ended up missing the end of the show.  Luckily, I was able to catch it again on demand last night.  I've been feeling sort of crappy since then.  Today is the first day that I actually feel okay.  Tuesday I ended up sleeping most of the day.

A band I used to like years ago called Finch released a new album this week.  I really haven't gotten the chance to listen to it due to me having a headache for the past 2 days, but I'm going to make it a point to listen to it.  I've liked these guys since their first album "What it is to burn", and I even have their band shirt to prove it.  Looking at a lot of my old band tees I realized I really do listen to a lot of music.  Maybe I'll post pictures of them when I get the chance.  I also need to post pictures of my room.  I mostly have band posters up, but one of them is really awesome cause it's autographed.  I'm also kind of a neat freak.  My cousin came into my room a few days ago and she was like "Ashley, you're room is too neat."  and I was like "Yeah, what can I say?  I don't like clutter everywhere."  She kind of went whatever and walked  She's the complete opposite of me so she's very messy.  Not to mention she has 3 kids so that makes the messiness even more-so lol.
I found out Nightwish is coming to my city in 2015 around May.  I want to try to go since they have Delain opening for them whom I also really like.  I've been trying to figure out how to convince my friend to go since she always bails on me.  I've been using the guilt trip method lately because she promised me she would be a better friend after not being able to go to Akon this year.

As for other things I've been reading a lot lately.  I started reading Morrissey's autobiography recently, and it's really interesting.  Honestly I'm not too fond of him as a person, but I really like The Smiths so it was interesting to hear about what happened with them from his perspective.  I also read a book called "That Freak Kid" which ended up being pretty good.  I thought the plot was really better than I expected, and most of the characters had a lot of depth.  I hated that guy Devin though, he was such an  I thought some parts of it were cliche especially about Jack being a somewhat stereotypical goth kid.  Although the music he liked wasn't really goth music tbh, but what can you do?  Apparently the guy was obsessed with Marilyn Manson.  :/  Manson isn't really gothic music, more-like industrial metal but I digress.  A lot of goths like him, but he's definitely not what I would consider him the type of music most goths listen to, but then again we're not all the same.  Many goths just like his aesthetic mostly.  I think that stereotype started after the whole Columbine thing also.  Because according to society goths are usually "violent, angsty, dangerous, school shooters, etc."  and Manson's antics don't exactly help get rid of that stereotype.  I'd also like to point out that I tried to get into his music, because in high-school I had a lot of friends who were into him.  I never could though, even now.  I've always been more of Nine Inch Nails fan.

I'm a 32 year old woman. I'm an artist, and I'm into the Gothic subculture. Things that I enjoy include but are not limited to 80's Music, Reading, Drawing, Animation, Playing bass guitar, Gothic rock, indie music, horror films, anime, comics, video games, and sci-fi novels. I don't know what I'd do without music, and art. I listen to Siouxsie and the Banshees way more than I should.
