I'm on episode 8 of Haikyuu!! and I'm really loving the series. I have a few favs actually. I really like Yu Nishinoya, Ryunosuke Tanaka, Tobio Kageyama (cause he's so angsty, and it amuses me.), and Shoyo Hinata. I ended up getting the DFX Kage figure actually cause I really liked it too. I love the detail on his shoes, and everything. Haha it's totally cool. I love dorking out about anime too.
About the gothic thing I do agree. It seems like goth fashion is popular among the tumblr hipsters these days, and I find it very annoying. Assuming everything is goth cause it's black, or dark, or whatever is doing the subculture a great disservice if you ask me. As for the Beyonce video I did get a Southern Gothic vibe from the whole thing, but the person on facebook clearly said "Gothic" so I assumed they were talking about the goth subculture. Either way I do hate how people wear the fashion just to be trendy, and don't know much about the subculture at all. Many goths put a lot of time into their outfits so to just tag anything as goth just cause it's black is pretty lame. I think the mainstream culture has a skewed version on what the subculture is actually about. Unfortunately I don't think that will change anytime soon.
You're not missing much in terms of the newer X-Men movies, but I'm looking forward to the new one. I was slightly disappointed with X-Men: Days of the Future Past so I'm hoping this one will be better.
I haven't been to A-Kon in a couple of years, but it was really fun when I went. They have a lot of interesting new panels that I want to check out if I go.
