Road trip!

My friend and I initially had plans to just hang out on Monday, but I called her and she asked me If I wanted to go on a road trip to see Charika. Charika is my best friend who moved away shortly after we graduated high-school. I said sure since I hadn't seen her in a long time. So we jumped in my car and embarked on a road trip down to South Texas towards Goliad. It was a long drive. It took us about 5 hours to get there, but we had lots of fun sight seeing on the way. We ended up taking my car since it's new, and I needed to put some miles on it. If you guys have never been to Texas it is truly like another country compared other places in the United States. The part we visited was mostly full of corn fields, livestock, oil rigs, and other things people probably associate with Texas.
On the way there we saw this gigantic gas station called "Buck-ees" or something, and it was what I dubbed "The Six Flags of gas stations" I kid you not. I was much too apprehensive to actually go in there lmao. My friend told me about a few incidents her family had in that gas station while traveling. Apparently there's always a ton of people in there, and I wasn't about to trigger my social anxiety by trying to fight through a sea of people.

Another thing, Austin traffic is ridiculous. It makes Dallas traffic look like child's play in comparison.
When we finally got there we wanted to surprise my friend so we stopped by her job, but she wasn't there. We headed towards her house, and knocked on the door. As soon as she saw us I realized she didn't act that surprised. Then I remembered I'd posted about the whole thing on twitter and she follows me xD! She was like "I saw your post so that's how I knew what you guys were up to." My other friend was like "Good job Ashley", and I just sort of smiled sheepishly.
We decided to check out a few local things that my friend recommended. We visited an old graveyard from the 1800's, and the school behind the graveyard is said to be haunted. After finding that out I was like "Well we're not going in there then." to which my friends laughed. Then we took a drive to Victoria since it isn't too far, and it's the closest thing to an actual city near Goliad. Seriously, that town is in the middle of nowhere, and my phone could not get any bars. We visited a few shops she recommended. We went to Hastings, and apparently they're going out of business so everything was on sale! That store is heaven for anyone who has any kind of nerdy interest I swear. They had so much stuff! I ended up with a few anime things. After that we went to the local H.E.B, and my friend recommended their sushi since they make it fresh that day. I got a small package of Philadelphia rolls, and a few other things and we headed out. We then went to check in at the hotel. The hotel room was actually a lot nicer than I expected it to be.
We decided to hang out in the hotel room for a while with my friend. We took a selfie, and here it is. In case you're wondering I'm the one with the Pink Floyd shirt and the awkward smile xD!
The next day we stopped by my friend's job, and dropped off some breakfast for her before we off sight seeing around the city. The city has a few spots that people claim are haunted which is sort of cool. We went to the local state park and looked at a really cool old catholic church. We drove around and found a few forts, and other historical buildings from the battles that had been fought in Goliad. Oh yeah, when we arrived at the park they had a sign dedicated to the local Pokemon Go players...lol. I I had to snap a picture of it.
After that we went back to Charika's job to tell her goodbye, but apparently her supervisor let her leave work early so we took her home. We sat in her room, and hung out and talked for a while. Around 2pm we decided we needed to start heading back since it was going to be a long drive. I had a ton of fun with my friend on my first real road trip. We'll probably do it again in a couple of years or so to visit her. I do promise to post some pics of the trip since I took quite a few of them. My phone is being annoying right now, and doesn't want to transfer the pictures. Once I get that figured out the next post will be mostly pictures of the places we visited.
