I've been wanting to do one of these posts for a while. So I figured I'd post about some of my current favorite modern Gothic rock, and Post-punk bands. Most people in the scene know about the older bands so I figured I talk about the more modern bands that I enjoy. I will mention that some of these bands range from Gothic Rock, to Coldwave, to post-punk, and all of the various other sub-genres in the Gothic scene. I also posted pictures of the bands in case you guys are visual people like myself.

IKON (Australia) *Gothic Rock
This is a band that peaked my interest after hearing the song "A Line on a Dark Day" from their album "Love Hate and Sorrow". I love how they merge the electronic sound with gothic rock, and post punk. Their current vocalist/guitarist mentioned in an interview that he was influenced by bands like Joy Division, New Order, and Simple Minds to name a few. Their earlier stuff is probably my favorite because I really dig the early vocalist's voice. I do enjoy a lot of their current stuff as well. This band is probably one of my favorites on this list.

Recommended tracks: Love is Colder than Death, Torn Apart, Stranger I've Become, A Line on A Dark Day, Condemnation

Lebenon Hanover (UK/Germany) *Coldwave
This band is very interesting in that it just has 2 members Larissa Iceglass (guitar/vocals) and William Maybelline (bass). They have a very minimalistic sort of coldwave sound that I really enjoy. Some of their lyrics switch from English to German on occasion which is cool.

Recommended tracks: Gallowdance, Hollow Sky, Die World

Savages (UK) *Post-Punk
I fucking love Savages so much I cannot put it into words how much I love this band. They did a fantastic performance of a few songs from their new album. Just watch this and you'll see why I love this band.

Recommended tracks: Just watch this live video

Lost Tribe (US) *Deathrock
This band took me by surprise the first time I heard their demo. They have a really great deathrock sound that I haven't heard many bands nail since the early bands.

Recommended tracks: Vexed, Disease, Winter

She Past Away (Turkey) *Darkwave
After hearing their first album I fell in love with their music immediately. Their sound reminds me a bit of the early batcave era bands. I saw a pic of the band where the singer had on an Alien Sex Fiend shirt so I guess I wasn't too far off with that assessment. Their music is in Turkish which is interesting because they're probably the first Turkish band I've ever listened.

Recommended tracks: sanrı, asimilasyon, katarsis, Gerçekten Özleyince

Black Marble (US) *Post-punk/Darkwave
Their most recent album blew me away with how great it was. Again they have a very minimalist sound. Their stuff is really bass driven music which is my favorite aspect of a lot of post-punk music. I am a bass player first and foremost after all.

Recommended tracks: Cruel Summer, MSQ No-Extra, Iron Lung, It's Conditional

Creative Adult (US) *Post-Punk

I was able to get a double album set of this band from runforcover records, and I loved them instantly. They're probably one of the best new post-punk bands I've heard in a while. I can't really think of what band to compare them to so I just say listen to the tracks I recommended, and listen for yourself.

Recommended tracks: Control My Eyes, I Can Love, Charged, Connected

About

I'm a 32 year old woman. I'm an artist, and I'm into the Gothic subculture. Things that I enjoy include but are not limited to 80's Music, Reading, Drawing, Animation, Playing bass guitar, Gothic rock, indie music, horror films, anime, comics, video games, and sci-fi novels. I don't know what I'd do without music, and art. I listen to Siouxsie and the Banshees way more than I should.
