This week was good. My mom told me that one of my nephew's friends who used to play professional basketball recently had a realistic portrait of my nephew done by an artist who does celebrity portraits. It's really good! He used a picture of my nephew with his mom, and it turned out really nice. We have it at our house at the moment. My sister is saving up to get a house so for the time being the portrait, along with his basketball shoes have been at our house. I thought that was very nice of his friend to do something like that for my sister. He also paid to have it done as well which was super nice.
I do plan on drawing a portrait of him one day, but I think right now his death is just too fresh in my mind to do one right now.
As for my guitar progress I've been doing rather well. I've been able to learn a few songs by ear. One of the songs I learned was this song by Ogre you Asshole. I really love the melody to that one so I fumbled around on my guitar until I got it right. It's a really nice song so I'm glad I can play it now. I also want to learn this song by The Jam. The chords aren't too complicated, but the rhythm is very distinct so I would have to work on that. I'm learning this one by Interpol also. I'm on my way to being a decent rhythm guitarist. :)
As far as other music goes I've been listening to a little bit of K-pop. I came across this video by the new YG Ent. group iKON. Their name is amusing to me because I also listen to a Gothic Rock band called IKON from Australia so in iTunes I have to put their name in Hangul so it doesn't tag them as the same artist. >_>; Anyway, the first video I watched was "Rhythm Ta" which was okay, but very try-hard. It seems like YG is trying to market them as the next Big Bang, but I'm hoping that label won't stick. It would be nice to see them come into their own. The next video I watched was "Airplane", and I have to admit I do like that song a lot more than Rhythm ta. It was sort of cute seeing Bobby, and BI fighting for the attention of the same girl. The song is has a nice catchy chorus. Anyway here are the videos for both songs. I didn't include the video for "My Type" since that song didn't do much for me. I'll admit that I don't think that they're that remarkable just yet as a group, but they peaked my interest enough for me to keep up with their music activities. ( Read more... )
