So today turned out really well.  My mom, and myself had initially planned to go out to eat for my birthday around 5pm or so, but since my sister had something to do we changed it to 3pm.  Everybody met up with us at the restaurant including my family from out of town.  I actually had a really good time.  I drinking a bit did loosen me up because I had a strawberry margarita.  Either way I was successfully able to engage with my family, and I was very pleased with how well I did.

My best friend posted on twitter that she was having a difficult day, and I sent her a tweet asking if everything was okay.  She told me she'd just had a rough day at work.  I realized how much she's probably been struggling lately with her new job, and her family sort of controlling her life.  It makes me realize that I really need to be a better friend to her, and check in on her every now and then.  We're supposed to go to the movies tomorrow to see X-Men: Apocalypse.  I'm looking forward to it.  I'm not a huge fan of many of the X-Men films, but I'm a huge fan of the comics, and have been reading them since I was 10 years old.  That being said I hope this movie is decent, and won't be too disappointing.  I didn't really care for the last X-Men film with the exception of Quicksilver's character.  Otherwise I thought it was pretty lame.  Either way I'm going to see this one because I'm definitely an X-Men fan, and I want to know what happens in this movie.  The trailer did look somewhat promising so we'll see tomorrow.

I was on twitter I believe and I saw an article about a 1970's Japanese anime that was getting an official re-release on dvd called "Belladonna of Sadness" (哀しみのベラドンナ.)  Apparently it was considered one of the first erotic cartoons ever made, and it was produced by Mushi production. Despite being created at Mushi it was the only film from this trilogy not written or directed by Osamu Tezuka (Astroboy, Black Jack.)   The trailer looks really interesting, and I'm always interested in checking out really old animation films since it's been a love of mine for a long time.  It definitely looks very psychedelic, and really reminds me of the 70s.  The music is really interesting as well.  I'm definitely going to check this out when it's officially released.  It's pretty strange though I must warn you.  I have somewhat weird taste in art, but that goes without saying xD!

Glad you had a nice bday dinner.

That trailer is gorgeous! I like the music too. I've only seen a few Japanese films, but I'll have to check this one out. Thank you for this! :)

I'm glad you had a good time.

I hope you like the movie. I can't remember where but I already saw some spoiler stuff and I hope it's better than what people are bitching about.

That art is amazing for Belladonna of Sadness. I'm not really into the older animes much because the animations so choppy, or non-existent and you feel like your watching a slideshow. I've tried watching Astro Boy and Rose of Versailles and couldn't get through them. But I'll give this a try once it comes out.

I need to watch them eventually. I'm just kind of tired of the movie and tv front of comics recently. A lot of the stuffs been super disappointing, especially on Marvels end. I was really hyped for Suicide Squad, but after being promo'ed to death I'm just indifferent to the movie now. Which I hate because I really wanted to enjoy Margot Robbie as Harley.

Not saying you wrong, but a part of me is so sad that 80's and 90's is considered old now. Like damn, I'm considered in the old section. Hell I've seen some people who consider early 2000's old now. Yeah I prefer the 80's - 90's stuff. Anymore I pick out around 3-7 animes a season and I'm luck if one of them is original at all and not a carbon copy of something I've seen. I still yet to see a few of the big 90's titles. Like Trigun, Fist of the North Star, etc.

Yeah I was thinking 50-60's is old to me, and when I got started I guess some 70's stuff was considered old-ish like Space Pirate Captain Harlock, etc. It's just sad that I've seen some people consider Naruto, FMA, and Ouran old...and it's like JFC those were early to mid 2000's.

Yeah I need to try Trigun. I think it was back then everyone was pestering me to watch it and I got stubborn. Some older stuffs hit or miss for me. Like I kinda liked Cowboy Bebop but then disliked it too.

About

I'm a 32 year old woman. I'm an artist, and I'm into the Gothic subculture. Things that I enjoy include but are not limited to 80's Music, Reading, Drawing, Animation, Playing bass guitar, Gothic rock, indie music, horror films, anime, comics, video games, and sci-fi novels. I don't know what I'd do without music, and art. I listen to Siouxsie and the Banshees way more than I should.
