I'll just post a few updates of things that have been going on.
- I'm sure everyone has heard about the passing of Prince last week. I was really shocked, as I had no idea he was sick. I think it took most people by surprise. I read a few posts from celebrities talking about it, and I'm glad that he was respected throughout the music world. I grew up on his music. My dad loves Prince, and listens to him all the time. His music was always playing around our household so I think his death really did affect me more than Bowie's. I do love both musicians, but I guess growing up on his music it's just weird that he's not around anymore.
- I've been having issues with my right hand lately (the hand that mom accidentally slammed in the front door.) Yesterday was the first day that it didn't really hurt, or bother me. I might have to get it checked out, but I'm not a fan of going to the doctor. It feels a lot better today than it has in a while.
- I'm currently obsessed with the anime "Haikyuu!!". The characters are hilarious especially Ryunosuke Tanaka, and the main character Shoyo Hinata. I actually ordered a figure of Tobio Kageyama recently, and I can't wait to get it.
- I watched that Beyonce "Lemonade" video yesterday, and I don't know what to think of it to be honest. Jay-Z seems like a POS, and she should probably divorce him, but I doubt she will. I downloaded the album this morning so I still have to give the music a listen. I like to take in albums with good headphones, and audio to get a feel for the music.
- After revisiting the video maybe the person on facebook meant southern gothic? If so then I take back what I said. I can see how someone would see it like that. It does have that visual aesthetic going on.
- I watched the new "X-Men Apocalypse" trailer, and it actually makes me want to see the film. I wasn't too keen on the earlier trailers, but this one is pretty good. As an avid X-Men fan I've often times ended up biting the bullet and going to see the films despite not being sold on many of the plots in the last few X-Men Films. So that means I'll probably go see this one.
- My friend and I are making plans to go to A-kon this year cause of my new found love of collecting anime figures, among other things. I also just realized I requested the wrong day to be off work so I'm going to have to go to my supervisor and try to change the date *sigh*.

Date: 2016-04-26 04:18 pm (UTC)About the gothic thing I do agree. It seems like goth fashion is popular among the tumblr hipsters these days, and I find it very annoying. Assuming everything is goth cause it's black, or dark, or whatever is doing the subculture a great disservice if you ask me. As for the Beyonce video I did get a Southern Gothic vibe from the whole thing, but the person on facebook clearly said "Gothic" so I assumed they were talking about the goth subculture. Either way I do hate how people wear the fashion just to be trendy, and don't know much about the subculture at all. Many goths put a lot of time into their outfits so to just tag anything as goth just cause it's black is pretty lame. I think the mainstream culture has a skewed version on what the subculture is actually about. Unfortunately I don't think that will change anytime soon.
You're not missing much in terms of the newer X-Men movies, but I'm looking forward to the new one. I was slightly disappointed with X-Men: Days of the Future Past so I'm hoping this one will be better.
I haven't been to A-Kon in a couple of years, but it was really fun when I went. They have a lot of interesting new panels that I want to check out if I go.

Date: 2016-04-26 09:21 pm (UTC)I hear you about goths getting bullied for how they looked. I wasn't goth in high-school, but I was punk, and did get harassed for how I dressed in high-school. Many of my friends were goth, and got a lot of shit for dressing the way they did. It does seem stupid that all of a sudden it's trendy, because I remember when it wasn't and people would make snide comments. I remember some guy told me "It's not Halloween yet!" and the funny part was I wasn't dressed particularly goth at all during that time. That was sort of my awakening though for checking out the gothic subculture because I realized that I always saw beauty in the darkness. But yeah sorry for the rambling, I agree with you. People take what they want from many subcultures, and create their own bastardized version of them without knowing anything about the subculture. It sucks.
Yeah I've always wanted to go to Comic Con myself. Yeah the fashion shows do seem really cool. I remember Shinya from Dir en grey modeled at one of the bigger anime cons a year or so ago. Pretty cool stuff.
