  • I've been having issues with my computer lately so I called Dell tech support.  Long story short since it's no longer in warranty they want to charge me and arm and a leg to fix the problem.  Needless to say I decided to weigh out my options, and check out a few local computer repair shops instead.  In the mean time I will be able to update things online using my old laptop that still works pretty well, and my kindle fire.
  • I was going to get my dad a shirt for Father's Day, but ended up settling for the good old money inside a card type gift.  He was very pleased with it so I was happy.
  • I got an annoying hang nail on my thumb last week, and managed to pull off part of my fingernail while I was doing chores.  It was pretty painful, and it hurt pretty bad the first few days.  It feels better now, and I'm glad I'm able to type this entry without wincing in pain.
  • I actually sort of wanted to go to the Vans Warped tour that's happening next week, but it's on a day I have to work, and I don't really know anyone who would be interested in going.  To be honest it's not really my scene.  I only liked a couple of bands on the tour so I figured it wasn't a total loss.
  • The summer heat is killing me lately.  I'm not someone who tans easily as much as I just burn.  So I mostly try to keep myself from staying out in the sun for long periods of time.  I've also decided that I will try to wear light colors every now and then to balance out the summer heat.  I do wear black mostly.  I won't completely give up on wearing black, but make sure to wear thin material that won't get too hot, and make me feel like I'm melting.  I do need to buy some more tanks to wear instead of shirts with sleeves.
  • I'm trying to save up for a vacation to somewhere in the US within a year or so.  I think I want to go to New York, and I have a college friend who stays in upstate NY so that would be fun.  I'm still trying to decide exactly where I want to go though.  I haven't decided if that's where I want to go or not.
  • I found out yesterday that one of my coworkers likes Depeche Mode, and she saw them in concert last time they came through Dallas.  Now I have someone to tag along with whenever they do another North American tour. :)

Last night I went to see Lacuna Coil again with a new friend named Nicole.  I had a pretty good time!  I wish I could say the same for her, but I'll elaborate on that later.  So we got to the venue around 6:40pm (after I finally found it after making a few wrong turns, I have a bad sense of direction jfc.)  The venue looked a lot smaller from the outside than it actually was on the inside.  The place is called Trees, and I was astonished to find when I walked in that they actually had Trees inside the venue...lol.  I kid you not, and I was pretty amused at that.
about the rest of the show...and a small rant )

So I guess this will be a review of the concert. My niece and I ended up getting there around 6:30-ish mainly because we wanted to eat before. That actually didn’t work out because the restaurant we went to, despite it being close to the venue, had very slow waiters and we had to finally tell them to just bring us the ticket because we had somewhere to be right after they brought out our food. Needless to say we made it there around 6:30, and people were lined up at the door. We got our wristbands, and headed into the venue.

The first band that played…well we had no idea who they were. They seemed fun though…lol. The singer proceeded to put on a random blue wig during the middle of their set, lol. They seemed like a fun band even though we came in on the end of their set.The next band was called Cilver [youtube] I believe. Anyway they were really really good, and the ended up winning over the crowd. They had some really good songs. I made it a point to check them out after hearing their live set. The best part was the singer crowd surfed into the audience. It was pretty random because I remember she mentioned something about the audience helping her get through the crowd but I didn’t expect her to jump into the crowd…lol. I think they were one of the most fun bands out of all the opening acts. They really did interact with the crowd a lot.

OMFG LACUNA COIL WAS FANTASTIC!!!! They put on an excellent show, and Christina Scabbia even mentioned International Women's Day during the concert which was pretty cool.   Can I also say that she's gorgeous in person~  Fangirling aside they put on a great show, and I have pictures.  Also I need to thank my wonderful niece  for taking these pictures as there was a really tall guy in front of me, and I couldn't take them on my own.  trip the darkness... )

This week has been, well rather interesting actually.  My coworker has been talking to me about a guy friend of hers and she’s convinced that we’re perfect for each other.  Well I started texting him today, and it turns out we have a shit-load things in common.  It really took me by surprise actually.  He’s actually a huge anime fan which is cool.  I’m just hoping that we have some other things in common, and that when we actually meet it will turn out well.  If nothing else comes out of it we might end up being good friends who knows.  I’m trying to keep an open mind about it.  Honestly, I hate being set up but this time it actually seems like it could possibly work out, who knows?

On another note the Lacuna Coil concert is this coming Saturday!  I’m super excited since Christina Scabbia (singer) has been posting non-stop on twitter/facebook about the tour.  I keep hearing good things about the shows so I’m really looking forward to it.  I’m going with my niece since my friend wasn't able to take off work.  My niece joked that she’ll need to bring some earplugs (she doesn't listen to any type of rock music so…lol.)

As for music I've been listening to a little bit of everything.  As far as Kpop goes I’ve been jamming to B.A.P’s newest album.  I really dig it a lot, and I love all the songs on the album.  Also an album that surprised me was the new 2NE1 album!  OMFG that album good!  And I say this as someone who was initially indifferent to 2NE1, and their music mostly.  It’s easily one of my favorite Kpop releases for this year.  I have Nell’s new album on my iTunes but haven’t listened to it yet.  I need to get on that.

Come back home... )

In terms of other music I’ve been listening to old-school industrial stuff like: Coil, Throbbing Gristle, Cabaret Voltaire, Skinny Puppy, as well as more recent Industrial stuff like Front Line Assembly, and NIN.  I really really like Coil.  Their music has such an eerie, and ominous atmosphere, and the how they create sound is something I find really intriguing.  I really dig Skinny Puppy too mainly for the songs “Dig It”, “Assimilate”, “Love”, and “Testure.”  I don’t know really why I like industrial music, but I do think you can create music out of noise, and random sounds.  Other stuff I’ve been listening to is Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Solemn Novena, Metallica, Magazine, Delain, Peter Murphy,  Madeth Gray’ll (I know random V-Kei band thrown in there…lol), and a few other artists.
